Costumer Reviews
It was about time--far as I know--Epson produced a sample pack. Epson makes a number of papers, but before this sampler did not provide samples of better papers. This is a pretty good sampler, including the best papers from Epson, some of which I'd used before. While there are better papers out there by independent paper makers, Epson's aren't too bad. Velvet gives a slightly crisper result than a number of matte papers, though it's almost impossible to tell printing side from other side, which gets on one's nerves at times. Exhibition FA can be very good. In one test--black and white photo--I discovered better separation than on a Hanhemuhle/Harman and Canson Platine. I was surprised because the latter are excellent papers, the Harman being a Baryta type. So Exhibition is worth trying out, and not too badly priced for a full pack.
What really surprised me, however, are the hot and cold press papers contained in this pack. Both are MK papers definitely work checking out. I think them better than Velvet FA but had not been able to get samples. They might be the best matte papers out there, what with Arches having been folded into Canson. (That was too bad because the old Arches Infinity was excellent!)
Course if you happen also to have an Epson printer you can also count on Epson's canned profiles for their own papers. They're pretty good actually. This fact might be a major reason for getting, or at least trying out, papers made by the maker of your printer if you in fact do have an Epson inkjet, which I do.
This is a great sampler. I already have developed my favorites from this sampler, and already used half of the samples. This is a terrific pack. If you are thinking of some professional papers for your exciting work, try this pack.
